Tonight, Joe Biden will make his acceptance speech as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.
But if you think for one second that Democrats are thrilled at Biden as their choice to take on President Trump… think again!
Heck, even Biden’s old boss and ‘friend’, Barack Obama isn’t sold on Biden!
According to a report from Politico, Obama has privately raised concerns over the ability of Biden to beat President Trump on Election Day.
Even though Obama made a public announcement supporting Biden, privately, his sentiment is different. According to the Politico report, Obama is worried that Biden doesn’t have a strong connection with the electorate… and has even expressed this with other Democrats.
According to Politico, Obama told one Democrat during the primary campaign, “Don't underestimate Joe's ability to f--- things up."
Ouch! What kind of ‘endorsement’ is that?!
"And you know who really doesn't have it? Joe Biden," Obama told another Democrat candidate during the party's primary. According to Politico, Obama was referencing Biden’s lack of intimacy with the Iowa electorate.
But those close to Biden have been wary of Obama’s so-called support for Biden for some time now.
Biden aides have criticized Obama’s support for Biden saying it has not been as enthusiastic as it was for Hillary Clinton back in 2016.
“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” Obama said of Clinton in his video message in 2016.
In his endorsement video for Biden he said, “I believe Joe has all of the qualities we need in a president right now … and I know he will surround himself with good people.”
At the end of the day, this shows that the Democratic Party is as divided as ever.
So, if you’re watching the Democratic National Convention this evening… be wary of the ‘hype’ around Joe Biden.
